Job Title:

GLIN ESG/Sustainability Strategy – Director/Manager

Job Summary:

As the Director/Manager of our ESG/impact-focused boutique consulting firm, you will play a critical role in leading and managing our consulting services in the field of sustainability and environmental stewardship. You will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives, providing expert guidance to clients, and fostering a culture of sustainability within our organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in sustainability practices, possess excellent leadership and communication skills, and be passionate about making a positive impact on the environment and society.

Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership:

➢ Develop and implement the overall strategic direction and business plans for our boutique consulting firm.
➢ Identify market trends, client needs, and emerging sustainability issues to ensure our services remain relevant and impactful.
➢ Provide leadership and guidance to the consulting team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

2. Client Engagement:
➢ Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their sustainability objectives and challenges, and developing tailored solutions.
➢ Lead client engagements, including conducting assessments, analyzing data, and delivering strategic recommendations.
➢ Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and repeat business.

3. Sustainability Consulting:
➢ Lead the development and delivery of sustainability consulting projects, including sustainability strategy development, environmental impact assessments, sustainability reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
➢ Provide subject matter expertise on sustainability frameworks, best practices, and regulatory
requirements to guide clients’ sustainability efforts.
➢ Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and practices in sustainability, and incorporate them into our consulting offerings.

4. Team Management:
➢ Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team of sustainability consultants, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
➢ Provide coaching and mentorship to team members, promoting their professional growth and
development.
➢ Assign and delegate project tasks, ensuring efficient resource allocation and project delivery.

5. Business Development:
➢ Identify and pursue business development opportunities to expand the client base and generate revenue.
➢ Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to develop proposals, participate in client
presentations, and negotiate contracts.
➢ Network with industry leaders, attend conferences and represent the firm in sustainability-focused events and forums.

Requirements:

➢ Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as sustainability, environmental science, business
administration, or a related discipline. A Master’s or an MBA degree is preferred;
➢ Proven experience (5 years) in sustainability consulting or a related field, with a track record of
successfully delivering sustainability projects;

➢ Native or fluent level of Japanese (written and spoken);
➢ Proficient in English (written and spoken);
➢ Strong knowledge of sustainability frameworks, such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI),
Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
➢ Familiarity with environmental impact assessment methodologies, lifecycle assessments, carbon footprinting, and sustainability reporting standards;
➢ Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
➢ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to develop innovative and practical solutions;
➢ Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels;
➢ Proven business development skills, including the ability to identify opportunities, build relationships, and close deals;
➢ Proficiency with various software applications especially Google Slides/PowerPoint, Google
Sheets/Excel, as well as Slack;
➢ A passion for sustainability and a deep understanding of the environmental, social, and economic challenges facing organizations today.
