About this Role
The Director, Impact Investments will source, originate, structure, execute, and close potential impact investment opportunities that generate conservation outcomes and financial returns. Reporting to the Senior Director, Impact Investments on the NatureVest team, this role requires a deep dedication to creating a meaningful impact. The Director will engage with asset managers, operating partners, conservation and investment experts, and cornerstone investors to co-create investment transactions. Responsibilities include transaction structuring, negotiation, and execution, alongside proactive investor engagement and fundraising efforts with the capital-raising team. The successful candidate will also work closely with internal stakeholders to secure necessary feedback and internal support for transactions, represent NatureVest at conferences and investor events, and assist in the strategic development of NatureVest.
Responsibilities
- Source and structure new investment transactions across conservation priorities globally.
- Conduct 360-degree assessments of new investment opportunities including financial viability, regulatory, business risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement.
- Make independent decisions frequently based on analysis, experience, and judgment.
- Represent the NatureVest team at industry and stakeholder events globally.
- Develop fit-for-purpose financial and legal structures that meet TNC’s conservation and reputational priorities.
- Conduct detailed negotiations with potential investors, operating partners, and key stakeholders.
- Develop detailed pitch decks, investment memoranda, and other necessary materials.
- Conduct investor roadshows and calls as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience in a relevant field such as investment banking, law, asset management, private equity, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with transaction structuring.
- Experience working directly with institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals.
- Knowledge of transaction legal documents and strong writing skills for memoranda.
- Advanced analytical and deal workflow and project management skills.
- Fully proficient in professional business English.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and evenings.
