Job Description

CrossBoundary is recruiting a full-time Associate. We are seeking candidates with experience working in underserved markets, contacts across the region’s financial services sector, and a thorough understanding of the investment landscape.

CrossBoundary is recruiting a full-time Associate to join CrossBoundary in West Africa. As a member of the transaction team, you will be tasked with evaluating investment opportunities, conducting macroeconomic markets assessments, and providing transaction support to both investors and capital seekers. Associate candidates should have at least 3 years of experience working in high-caliber finance or consulting organisations and experience working in developing countries. Experience working in West Africa will be regarded favourably.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Company identification and evaluation
  • Identify and rigorously assess investment opportunities
  • Market assessment and ongoing market analysis
  • Conduct macroeconomic, regulatory, and operational assessments
  • Provide sector analysis of priority areas for investment
  • Investor qualification and relations
  • Assist in identifying qualified investors
  • Manage numerous investor relationships
  • Transaction support
  • Assist, and often lead a team in supporting complex transactions


Required skills and qualifications:

  • 3+ years in top tier banking, consulting, private equity, or similar
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or another advanced degree strongly desired
  • Experience working in developing countries
  • French and English business fluency
  • Excellent analytical ability and discipline; ability to think clearly, structure problems logically, and then design and implement solutions that focus on the core issue
  • Excellent presentation skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences
  • Knowledge of corporate finance and familiarity with company evaluation and valuation techniques
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues in challenging environments
  • Comfort with ambiguity; ability to operate effectively in a changing context
  • Strong sense of ownership and ability to lead projects and support and mentor more junior colleagues
  • Willingness to work and live in a sometimes challenging environment
  • Knowledge of the West African investment landscape (or previous work experience in it)
  • Familiarity with company fundraise process, including investor due diligence processes
  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders (including private equity firms, Development Finance Institutions, and development agencies) to support investments in high impact sectors
