About this Role

Apollo’s Sustainability team is seeking an ESG Data Lead to support the reporting team’s data and analytics needs across various reporting and sustainable investing programs. This role will drive reporting, communications, products, and solutions for Apollo teams and clients. Successful candidates should possess a strong passion for both financial markets and climate/sustainability issues. The ideal candidates will demonstrate expertise in data quality and analytics, including familiarity with cutting-edge approaches, data sources, and analytical tools. A background or strong foundation in finance and sustainability is preferred. Additionally, candidates should be highly organized, detail-oriented self-starters who excel in team environments but are also comfortable with autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the annual ESG reporting data collection process, including benchmarking and feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Provide detailed and insightful analytics on ESG reporting, financed emissions, and other sustainability metrics using various software and datasets.
  • Collaborate with Apollo’s Portfolio Performance Solutions (APPS) team, focusing on portfolio company-level ESG data and analytics.
  • Assist in developing the annual Sustainability Report and lead the creation of the annual ESG Reporting Supplement.
  • Manage relationships with technology and data partners, including conducting RFP processes for new or replacement partners.
  • Support the ESG Due Diligence Questionnaire process alongside internal diligence teams and external legal counsel.
  • Work with Apollo Sustainability and Enterprise teams to integrate and optimize data and code for automation and execution at scale.
  • Conduct exploratory ESG data analytics and collect data for ad-hoc research requests.
  • Stay updated with the latest climate science and sustainable finance trends.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Climate Science, or a similarly quantitative field.
  • 3-5 years of work experience, preferably in financial services or with a foundation in finance and/or sustainability.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fast learner and self-starter with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Experience with data analytics tools such as Tableau and SQL is a plus.
  • Strong interest and background in applying quantitative analysis to climate/sustainability.
  • Familiarity with ESG topics such as GHG calculations, financed emissions, and climate policy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in team environments and lead autonomous projects.
