Website As You Sow

As You Sow seeks to promote environmental and social corporate responsibility through shareholder advocacy, coalition building, and innovative legal strategies.

Our vision is a safe, just, and sustainable world in which protecting the environment and human rights is central to corporate decision-making.

As You Sow is a Berkeley-based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1992 that promotes corporate environmental and social responsibility through shareholder advocacy, coalition building, and innovative legal strategies. We believe that the path to a safe, just, and sustainable world for all can be achieved by moving corporations to take greater responsibility for the impact of their actions, particularly in their environmental, social, and governance policies and practices. Doing so reduces risk for companies and harm to stakeholders. We achieve these goals through direct engagement, shareholder advocacy, research, publishing scorecards, and other innovative and legal actions. Here is one example.

COMMITMENT TO JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion)

As You Sow actively seeks to recruit and retain a diverse staff in all areas of our work. We actively seek diversity and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of age, race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, marital status, sex, or sexual orientation.

As You Sow’s Climate and Energy Program works to make a positive change in the world by moving companies to make progress on climate change. In this leading role, you will have an opportunity to work with As You Sow to shift publicly-traded companies to address these critical climate-related issues as a researcher and shareholder advocate.

As an Associate, you will support As You Sow’s Climate & Energy program in working to embed climate action throughout the full range of companies’ operational planning and disclosures. Work will include research on corporate policies and practices, climate regulations, corporate governance and risk management, and company financials. Issue areas include oil and gas emissions, financed emissions in the banking and industry sectors, offsets, low carbon technologies, and greenhouse gas measurement and management, among others. The Associate will also participate in company dialogues, report drafting, press release drafting, etc. Through this relationship, you will gain insight into the nexus of climate and business and obtain a greater understanding of shareholder advocacy and how this can change the world.
