Bio-Lutions raises €500,000 ($537,000) for eco-friendly packaging.
The Hamburg, Germany venture makes environmentally-friendly packaging and tableware to serve the Indian market, where plastic packaging has been banned in several states.
Bio-Lutions products are made out of agricultural waste, which is collected from a local Indian farming cooperatives, dried and ground into micro- and nano-fibres, and then processed into the final products without added chemicals.
Bio-Lutions received €500,000 from German development finance agency DEG through DEG’s Up-Scaling programme for small and mid-size social enterprises.
Bio-Lutions will use the funding to launch a manufacturing plant in Bangalore.
